What I’m Wearing Wednesday – Estee Lauder GK Caviar

Welcome back to What I’m Wearing Wednesday, the way we show off our mani and review it at the same time! We love our polish but sometimes just showing you a picture of the latest office mani isn’t enough! So in this feature we endeavour to give you a mini review of our current mani. Today I’m showing a long-standing favorite polish of mine, Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in the shade ‘GK Caviar’.

This was a promotional shade a few years ago but is still available for purchase from some vendors online. I bought this color in a fundraiser where a number of luxury beauty brands donated products and the profit was given to the National Breast Cancer Foundation in Australia. What a great excuse to buy a polish!

The color itself is a gorgeous gunmetal grey that in some lights has a slight shimmer to it. It is a classic example of a dark that lengthens your nails. As you can see in the photos below I have relatively short square shaped nails but with this color they look much longer than they actually are (which I love). The formula is a creme that goes on almost perfectly in one coat. But… it looks just that bit better with a second coat. The photo below shows it without a top coat and you can see how gorgeous and naturally glossy it is!

Two coats of color and it’s so glossy with no top coat!

This grey looks gorgeous with a classic glossy topcoat, but would also look amazing with a matte topcoat instead. That would probably be more suited to a Winter mani. I’m loving this color as a transition from Spring to Summer. If the color looks familiar to you we used it in a tutorial last week, so check that out for some inspiration of a way to use dark colors at this time of year!

After a topcoat, this polish is a dreamy and glossy gunmetal grey!
My Thoughts:

Dry Time- Less than five minutes per coat and only 10 minutes to dry after applying a Seche Vite top coat.

Opaqueness- You could get away with one coat but the polish is perfect with two.

Chip Free– As I’m typing this I am on Day 4 with no chips but a little bit of wearing at the fingertips.

Overall, this polish is a winner and I really want to try other colors from the Pure Color Nail Lacquer line. If you like the look of this polish, you can buy it on Ebay for just $7.99! (It’s worth it, I promise!)

Until next time!
