SALON BE – Hair, Nail & Spa – 106 River Dr. S, Jersey City, NJ

Call me crazy but I was in desperately need to get out of the house, so I took my 11-month-old baby with me on a salon review. Those that are regular readers will know that I have done this a few times and each time have had to battle either poop explosions, vomit, tears or more recently tantrums. Let’s chat for a second about tantrums, where did my sweet little princess go? The first time she arched her back, straightened her legs and screamed murder as I tried to put her into the stroller I was in shock. I remember thinking where did she learn that? I am pleased to say that after googling it (where would we all be without google?) that it is just a new developmental phase. Hmmm hopefully we hurry through this phase although I am thinking this is a permanent battle of the wills that we will need to help shape.

So here I was determined (hmmm maybe that is where my little cherub gets it from, I must stop blaming my husband) to have a quick mani. Rarely do I find a large salon with fabulous ventilation, that is kid and stroller friendly. Salon Be would have to have been one of my favorite salons to visit for a number of reasons; firstly every staff member went above and beyond to help me with my baby girl. While my nails were drying, another technician (mine was already onto the next customer) helped me put her snow coat on while she wiggled and screamed. Talk about patience, this lovely lady chatted and calmed my little darling and had her snug and warm in her stroller in no time. Then when I needed a visit to the restroom, the male manager – kept her entertained and distracted while I dashed away for a minute.

My technician Chris was AMAZING, so engaging and entertaining. He was meticulous in fixing my chipped nails and painted them a beautiful dark maroon hue; Essie’s Wicked and most importantly he didn’t cut my cuticles (my editor would be pleased to hear that). I later found out that his first love is massage, which you could tell when he massaged my hands and arms, oh and how could I forget the complimentary 3-minute shoulder massage he gave me while my fingers were drying – so so so good!! Not only did I enjoy myself, my manicure lasted a week, looked fabulous and my sweet baby giggled and delighted the staff and customers (that was until her minor meltdown as we were leaving because she didn’t want to put her coat back on, all in all a win!). I would highly recommend this salon, they were really kid friendly despite me reading in their brochure after the fact that no children are allowed. Oopsie…

Until next time,
