Google only indexes a small part of the Internet. According to some estimates, the Web has five hundred times more content than Google shows in its results. The links that return that and other search engines when doing a search, make up what is called the surface web or web of the surface, while all other content that is not found are called deep web,Internet or deep web, invisible web or invisible Internet/web.

Most of that information is hidden simply because it is not relevant to the vast majority of users. Much is stored in databases that Google doesn’t get or aren’t interested in accessing. A large part is old and outdated. iPhone app content, files from your Dropbox account, academic journals, court records, or private social media profiles are some examples of data that Google doesn’t necessarily index, but still exist on the Internet.

Deep web vs. darknetDeep web is often confused with the darknet, alsocalled dark web, black web, black net or dark Internet/web. Simply put, the deep web is composed of all the information stored online that internet browsers do not index. To enter the deep web you don’t need any special tools, just know where to look. And there are specialized search engines, lists and wikis that help you find what you’re looking for.
