Aussie Indie Polishes Making A Splash

Despite living in the Big Apple now, most of the ladies in the Pedicure office are originally from Australia, so we thought it was time to write an article for our Aussie readers. We have compiled a list of the Top 5 Australian Indie Polish brands that are going to crack the mainstream. Don’t worry US readers, all the brands we have found have US stockists so you can get them too!

Gloss n Sparkle

Established in 2012 by Angela Clark, Gloss n Sparkle aims to produce unique polishes with high quality, vegan ingredients that aren’t tested on animals and are all 5 free (you can read about what 5 free means in my ‘Decoding the Ingredients’ series).
Our favorite color is ‘Goblins Grave’, which is a dark green jelly base with lime, turquoise and charcoal holographic and black hex glitter, and looks super cute.

Alanna Renee

Alanna Renee launched in January 2013 and is run single-handedly by Alanna in her spare time. All products are handmade and are available from a number of stockists globally.
We love her Harry Potter inspired range, especially ‘Butter Beer’, an orange shade with a mix of different sizes of white glitter, inspired by the popular drink in the series.

Sayuri Nail Lacquer

Sayuri Nail Lacquer is an independent Australian businesses specializing in hand mixed nail polish. It was launched in March 2013 by Anthea Cosentino and the majority of the polishes are designed for layering, meaning the final look is designed by the user. All the polishes are 3 free and made using quality ingredients, the polishes also contain no animal products and are not tested on animals.
Our absolute favorite polish by Sayuri was actually created to celebrate the launch of the brand and is called ‘Love, Sayuri’. It’s a clear glitter topper with 10 different holographic glitters (including glitter butterflies – adorbs!).

Love Thy Polish

Founded in late 2011, Love Thy Polish is an independent nail polish brand based in South Australia. They specialize in unique handmade polishes in a range of colors and finishes.
We love the color ‘Southern Sky’, which is a dusty blue base with varying sizes of black glitter.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics

One of the most well known Australian indie polish brands is Femme Fatale cosmetics. Established in 2011 by Sophie Broadbent, Femme Fatale cosmetics is the leading Australian stockist for boutique artisan lacquers and cosmetics, as well as having their own artisan makeup line.
Our favorite of their polishes is ‘Winter Hyacinth’, which is a teal crème polish with white, pink and purple glitter through it.
