How to: Fix A Smudged Nail

Not to be melodramatic, but one of the most annoying things is the world is smudging your manicure just after you leave the salon. Right? There’s that moment of ‘should I go back in…?’ but inevitably you’re running to your next appointment, or you are just far enough away that it doesn’t seem worth it. We have a couple of quick and easy ways to fix a smudged nail, no awkward return to the salon required.

If you are still out – saliva

What? It’s true. Lick your finger and then softly press on the smudge to smooth it out. The mixture of heat and the compounds in saliva react with the lacquer, allowing you to blend out the blemish. Once you are home, you can glaze it over with a top coat and no one is any wiser.

If you are home – nail polish remover

Grab a nail polish corrector pen and carefully wipe it over the smudge – the polish remover acts as a thinner and erases the mistake. You can also use a q-tip and dab it in some nail polish remover (you only want a small amount of polish remover).  If you own the same color polish (and you probably should be taking your own polish to the salon) then do a quick touch up. If not, a swipe of clear top coat will seal the deal.
