Trend Alert Down Under: Nail Art

We know that polishaholics (our readers especially) have been a fan of funky nail art for a while, but over the Summer the trend really took off in Australia and we’ve decided to shine a spotlight on our two absolute musts to go to for some great nail art in Sydney and Melbourne.

I Scream Nails – Sydney AND Melbourne

Founded in 2012 and originally located solely in Melbourne, this quirky salon has recently opened its doors in Sydney. They are developing a cult following of fans and Aussie celebs are frequently seen popping in for a mani. The talented nail artists have a huge range of designs available at a really reasonable price and have just launched their own polish line too! You can see their full range of nail art options here (we are obsessed with the anime style frog and the Disney princess set). Check them out on Instagram (@iscreamnails) for behind the scenes snaps of all the amazing events they do and lots of manis done in their salon.

Get Nailed by LaRouge

Lauren Larouge is a one-woman ukulele burlesque songstress who used to run a nail salon by day and sing and dance at night. However since the rise of popularity in nail art and specialty nail designs, Lauren has focused more on her salon business. With a prime location in Sydney’s Kings Cross, Lauren is at what she describes as “the heart of the eclectic community”, which she ascribes as one of the main reasons for her success. Most of Lauren’s nail art is customized and as such the prices are determined onsite, but a rough list of prices can be found here. We love the fact that she custom designs for her clients and uses rhinestones, glitter and a tonne of embellishments!
