How To: Fourth of July Patriotic Nail Art

Happy (almost) 4th of July! Time to get into the red, white, and blue spirit. While we don’t necessarily condone draping yourself in a flag and wearing it as a dress, or wearing your most obnoxious stars and stripes overalls that were cute when you were 4 but definitely not cute now, we do think you need a touch of Old Glory to get into the mood. To whit, our super easy flag manicure.

What we used:

White: Sephora by OPI in A-ha Moment
Red: Zoya in Kristi
Blue: Bernard Wilhelm for Uslu Airlines is GNB
Base coat: ButterLondon Nail Foundation
Top coat: Revitanail Top Coat
Dotter tools (we bought ours super cheap from Amazon – see below)
A scrap piece of paper or cardboard

Step one: Base coat
Step two: Two coats of white
Step three: Put a big drop of blue polish on a piece of paper, and carefully dot your first two nails, picking up more polish on your dotter tool as you go. The dots don’t need to be in perfect rows and all the same size, making them haphazard looks good
Step four: Either clean your dotter tool or grab a new one, and put a drop of red on your paper. Do a dot and then drag it into a slightly squiggly line – these are definitely not meant to be straight lines, and the casual placement gives the illusion of movement. Repeat until three nails are covered in wavy lines
Step five: Glossy top coat
